I have been looking at butterfly Zentangles for some time now and I thought I have to give it a go.

The butterfly lends itself to tangles as the large wings give plenty of surface area for creating different patterns.

Pink and Blue Zentangle Butterfly Artwork

This is a gorgeous piece of artwork. I love the fluid lines and colors are stunning.

Butterfly Art and Watercolor

I love the colors in this watercolor butterfly artwork.

Geometric Butterfly Tangle

This butterfly is made up of a geometric design in bold yellow and orgenge.

My Own Butterfly Tangle

With this tangle, I found a picture of a butterfly on Pixabay and draw the outline freehand.

I tried to make the body of the butterfly slightly realistic. I seem to remember way back in biology class that an insect has three body segments so I tried to show this.

The patterns on the wings were done completely off the top of my head. It no way resembled the original photograph.

The colors are sharpie pens. Once completed I tried to add depth with a pencil and a blending stump.

I enjoyed the process of making this picture as I was determined to just let the pen go where it wanted.

The picture took about 30 minutes.
